THE GRAVEL EXPLORER

You enjoy wide gravel paths and slightly uneven terrain but have never ridden on mountain bike specific trails or single tracks.

You know how to use your gears and brakes and have started standing up on your pedals to separate yourself from your bike, but lose confidence when riding uneven, bumpy terrain.

You can handle smooth surface single-track, but when the terrain gets technical you get off and walk.
You are comfortable riding:
Pacific Spirit Regional Park, Serra’s Trail, LSCR gravel pathways.

THE EASY GREEN RIDER

You have started to ride some smooth and low gradient single tracks. You stand up on your pedals for most of the descent and don’t mind rolling over smaller rocks and roots.

You enjoy riding flowy singletrack trails when the gradient is not steep and have ridden over some roots and rocks before.

You feel confident using your brakes, changing gears and standing up on your mountain bike.

You are comfortable riding North Shore Green trails like:
Bobsled, Roadside Attraction and Empress Bypass. Or Wonderland, Rob’s and Cliff’s corners in Squamish.

THE BLUE RIDER

You have started to like the taste of “techy trails” and enjoy taking on smaller trail features along the way. You can climb and descend under control on mildly steep single track with some tight turns, loose rocks and small roots.

You enjoy riding blue trails within the Sea-To-Sky Corridor, and enjoy taking on the trail features you encounter along the way.

You are challenged by steeper or more technical sections you find on black level trails.

You can control direction and breaking on loose surfaces and tighter corners.

You have good balance on your bike and can climb up and over roots and rocks.

You are comfortable riding North Shore Blue trails like:
Leopard, Upper Griffin, Bridle Path, Good Sir Martin, and John Deer.

THE STRONG BLUE / EASY BLACK

Flowy or Techy Single track - bring it on! You enjoy riding at a faster pace on blue level trails and getting your wheels off the ground along the way. You ride black trail sections with a bit more caution and you walk some features.

You are comfortable riding most types of blue rated single track in a variety of conditions (muddy, dry, loose, wet).

You find black trails a challenge but can ride most sections - while having fun!

You can handle rugged terrain such as 1~2 foot steps, small rock-rolls, large roots and wooden bridges.

You can climb on technical singletrack with around 80% success rate.

You are comfortable riding easier North Shore Black trails like:
Expresso, Crinkum Crankum, Kirkford, Pangor, Forever After or Rupert and Credit Line in Squamish.

You do not hesitate dropping into black diamond trails and technical trail features in challenging conditions.

You can ride steep trails with control.

Jumps that are 1~2 bike length are fun!

Climbing up and over technical sections of trail is not a problem.

You enjoy challenging yourself on low to the ground skinnies and North Shore woodwork.

You are comfortable riding harder North Shore Black trails including all Technical Trail Features like:
Executioner, Lower Oil Can, TNT / Cabin Trail, Dales Trail, or the No Quarter Mt Fromme Climb trail.

Boogieman, Ladies Only, Bookwus, or Boundary.

You can probably handle 250 vertical meters (820 ft) of climbing in one day, or 3 laps of Bobsled!

You are capable of riding for 3 hours at a moderate pace with some breaks along the way.

You can handle 10 - 20 min of sustained climbing on technical trails in one go, and can keep climbing for 1hr.

Climbing 450 vertical meters (1470 ft) or two laps of Expresso in one day does not sound like a stretch.

THE EVERYDAY HERO

You have above average fitness and exercise around 3-4 times a week for at least an hour.

You can ride for 4 hours at a moderate pace with a short break every hour or so.

You can handle climbing 600 vertical meters (around 2000 ft) or Multiple Seymour pedal laps up Good Sir Martin in one ride.

THE ‘UNDERCOVER’ OLYMPIAN

You ride your bike almost every day rain or shine. You think you could give Nino Schurter a run for his money in a 100m sprint.

You are (or could be) an XC or Enduro racer who can step onto the podium of most professional races (or at least get close to it!)

You can ride for up to 6 hours a day, and enjoy high-intensity physical activity.

You can handle sustained, technical climbs and can endure 1 - 2 hours of high output effort in between breaks.

Steep climbs of 1000m + (around 3200ft) and distances of 50km on technical trails do not phase you. Eg. Long accents like the Into The Mystic/Lord of the Squirrels loop in Whistler.

Kids at this level are recommended to take Private or Private Group Lessons! All riders within our Camps & Programs should already be able to ride their bike.
